Blake Lively’s legal team issued a subpoena on Wednesday for Justin Baldoni’s phone records as they work to support their claim that he orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
Lively is suing Baldoni, her It Ends With Us director and co-star, alleging that he, along with his publicists and associates, targeted her online in retaliation for her complaints about on-set sexual harassment.
Her lawyers have already obtained extensive text messages from Jennifer Abel, one of Baldoni’s publicists, which include discussions about efforts to “bury” and “destroy” Lively. However, they believe additional records could provide a clearer picture of how such actions were carried out.
To that end, Lively’s team has subpoenaed AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile for phone records related to Baldoni, producer Jamey Heath, and billionaire Wayfarer Studios co-founder Steve Sarowitz. They are also seeking records for Abel and publicist Melissa Nathan.
Lively’s attorneys had been scheduled to file an amended complaint on Friday but requested an extension to March 5, citing the need to address new allegations. While Baldoni’s team did not oppose the request, Judge Lewis J. Liman denied the full extension, granting only four additional days. The amended complaint is now due on Tuesday.
