Dua Lipa has canceled her planned concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, due to concerns over stage safety. The 29-year-old singer, who recently headlined Glastonbury, was set to perform at the 16,500-seat Indonesia Arena on Saturday, November 9, but decided to call off the show just one day before the event.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media Friday night, Dua expressed her sadness over the decision: “I’m devastated to tell you that I won’t be able to perform in Jakarta this Saturday.” She explained that while she was in Indonesia and prepared for the concert, the staging conditions were deemed unsafe, forcing the cancellation.
Dua, who had just wrapped a performance in Singapore, will now continue her tour in other parts of Asia, including stops in the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand, skipping over Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest country.
“I was so looking forward to performing for you, and it breaks my heart that we can’t be together after such a long wait since my last visit to Jakarta,” she added, expressing her affection for her fans. “I love you all so much and can’t wait until we’re singing and dancing together again soon.”
