Miss Grand International 2024 Title Passed to CJ Opiaza of the Philippines

Following the sudden resignation of Rachael Gupta, CJ Opiaza of the Philippines, who originally placed as first runner-up, is now the presumed Miss Grand International 2024, in accordance with the organization’s established succession protocol.

While the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI) has yet to release an official statement confirming the transition, long-standing pageant protocol dictates that the first runner-up inherits the crown if the reigning queen resigns or is unable to fulfill her duties.

Rachael Gupta announced her resignation on May 28 via Instagram, stating that her time as Miss Grand International was marked by “broken promises,” “mistreatment,” and a “toxic environment” she could no longer endure. She also mentioned that a full video detailing her experience would be released soon.

Gupta’s announcement sent ripples through the pageant industry. In response, the organization issued a brief confirmation of the termination, citing violations of contractual obligations — including participation in external projects without approval and refusal to attend an official trip to Guatemala.

Although MGI has not publicly declared CJ Opiaza as the new queen, her assumption of the title aligns with the organization’s previous handling of similar cases.

CJ Opiaza, representing the Philippines, earned high praise during the Miss Grand International 2024 competition for her eloquence, elegance, and commanding presence on stage. Her presumed coronation would mark the third time a Filipina has held the Miss Grand International crown, further solidifying the Philippines’ reputation as a global pageant powerhouse.
