Paramount Channels at Risk of Disappearing from YouTube TV Amid Contract Dispute

Several channels owned by Paramount Global, including CBS, Comedy Central, and MTV, may soon be removed from YouTube TV if the two companies do not reach an agreement on contract renewal by Thursday.

YouTube TV, owned by Alphabet, has informed its customers that it is working to reach a fair agreement with Paramount to retain their channels, but negotiations have not yet been successful. If no deal is reached, the channels will be taken down tonight.

In response, Paramount stated on a dedicated webpage that YouTube TV is attempting to pressure Paramount into agreeing to unfavorable terms and emphasized that it has proposed a comprehensive deal to keep its channels available on the platform.

If the channels go dark for an extended period, YouTube TV subscribers will be eligible for an $8 credit, which can be claimed on the service’s website. YouTube TV is also encouraging users to sign up for Paramount+ to continue watching CBS and other content.

Previously, YouTube TV experienced a similar dispute with Disney in 2021, when a contract renewal was finalized after a two-day blackout of Disney channels.
