Queen Camilla Welcomes Adorable Rescue Puppy to the Palace

Queen Camilla recently welcomed a new furry member to the royal family—a rescue puppy named Moley. The mixed-breed pup, born on December 26, 2024, was adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in February 2025, continuing a cherished tradition of rescuing dogs from this shelter. Moley came into the royal household following the sad loss of Camilla’s beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Beth, who passed away in November 2024 due to an inoperable tumor.

Described affectionately by the Queen as “a bit of everything” breed-wise, Moley earned his name because of his mole-like appearance. At just 20 weeks old, the playful and mischievous puppy has quickly become a much-loved companion.

Ahead of Queen Camilla and King Charles’s visit to the prestigious RHS and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, Buckingham Palace shared heartwarming photos of the Queen cuddling Moley. This garden features a special path with bricks inscribed with the names of dogs connected to RHS patrons and BBC Radio 2 presenters, including Moley, Camilla’s previous dogs Bluebell and Beth, and King Charles’s dog Snuff. After the show, the garden will be moved to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where the Queen serves as patron.

Moley joins Bluebell, another rescue dog from Battersea, as part of the royal family’s ongoing commitment to animal welfare and their tradition of involving pets in their public and private lives. The arrival of Moley has brought much joy to the household, with the Queen expressing delight in her new canine companion, who is expected to accompany her on official engagements.
