A lawsuit accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z of sexual assault 25 years ago has been dropped by the woman who filed it.
On Friday, her lawyers filed a notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be refiled. They confirmed that both defendants’ legal teams agreed to the decision.
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, welcomed the dismissal, calling the allegations false and emphasizing that Jay-Z never settled or paid any money to resolve the case.
The lawsuit was initially filed against Combs in October 2024, with the woman alleging that she was drugged and raped at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when she was 13 years old. In December 2024, Jay-Z was added to the complaint and accused of rape.
Jay-Z denied the accusations, urging the woman to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one. His legal team repeatedly tried to have the case dismissed. In December, a judge rejected their request and allowed the woman to remain anonymous, criticizing Jay-Z’s lawyers for their aggressive legal tactics. In January, his team again sought dismissal and called for sanctions against the woman’s attorney due to inconsistencies in her claims.
Combs’ lawyers stated that the case’s dismissal supports their argument that these lawsuits are based on falsehoods. Combs is currently facing more than 40 sexual assault lawsuits and was indicted in September on charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.
